The Heart Behind the Work
Meet the person behind the stage, the book and the community.
From Public Services to Building Community
My journey started in public services. For years, I managed underfunded teams across the Department of Health, the Ministry of Justice and the NHS, and saw firsthand what happens when people don’t have the connection, support and sense of belonging they need.
That experience eventually led me to found The Social Society, a B Corp bringing people together through volunteering, events and doing good. What started as a simple idea has grown into a community creating gatherings and opportunities to make a difference everywhere from the UK to Australia and New York.
Today, I speak, host, and run workshops for people and businesses who want to build stronger cultures through connection, belonging and giving their time. I’m also the author of Do Volunteer: Find Belonging, Community and Make an Impact, because I believe doing good shouldn’t feel like another thing on the to-do list. It should feel like being part of something.

I believe the best change happens when people feel connected to something bigger than themselves.
Give people a reason to care, a way to get involved, and a place where they feel they belong, and something shifts.
That’s what I do: bring people together, spark action and make doing good feel joyful.
